Audubon International assist golf courses and golf course developments in providing wildlife habitat, protecting water quality, conserving natural resources, and improving environmental performance. They also document and publicize the environmental, economic, and social outcomes of environmentally responsible golf course development and management.

The Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary Program for Golf Courses is an award winning education and certification program that helps golf courses protect our environment and preserve the natural heritage of the game of golf. The program helps golf officials enhance the valuable natural areas and wildlife habitats that golf courses provide and minimize any potentially harmful impacts of golf operations. There are over 600 certified golf courses in the USA.

The Audubon Signature Programs provide environmental planning assistance to new developments. The programs help landowners including golf courses and developers design for the environment so that both economic and environmental objectives are achieved. Once construction is complete, involvement in an ASP ensures that managers apply sustainable resource management practices in the long-term stewardship of the property.
